Two shorts for the launch of Breather Studios, and my first time shooting on Super 16mm. We worked on this project over the course of four months, putting together a mosh posh of cameras and locations to make a film about finding time to breathe in the midst of creative and expressive work.
I fell in love with the super 16 footage, choosing to shoot Kodak 250T during early morning and late evening to create a cool, blue color cast baked into the footage. We also shot parts on super 8mm and digital, so coloring the film was a great challenge. The flexibility and color that you can pull from film was exciting, as was matching the digital footage to the film with grain, color, and the little things like halation and dust.
